What is Sculptra?
Sculptra Aesthetic is the brand name for poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic dermal filler comprised of the same lactic acid that occurs naturally in the body.
The beauty of Sculptra over other fillers is that not only does it add significant volume, but it also encourages the production of collagen at the same time.
The process is believed to be safer and more customisable than other procedures such as fat transfer, as the results are progressive and last longer.
How does Sculptra work?
The science behind it
As an injectable poly-L-Lactic acid, Sculptra helps to increase the volume of the skin by activating the natural collagen cycle. Therefore, it is injected deeper into the dermis that other fillers. And rather than increasing the volume of the injection area immediately, the liquid is absorbed by the skin and dissipates over 48 hours for long-term rejuvenation of the face.
Also, unlike other fillers, you will need more than one session for the PLLA to work properly and replace the collagen over time.

During the treatment
Your practitioner will cleanse the intended injection areas and may also use a topical anaesthetic to help with any minor discomfort as it’s injected deeper than other fillers.
Aftercare
Aftercare for Sculptra fillers is minimal. You may experience some slight swelling of the area, but this will fade quickly as the liquid dissolves. You should avoid direct sunlight until the swelling has died down and apply a cold pack for a few minutes within the first day of treatment. It might initially appear as if no work has been done, but the results will emerge a few weeks after the treatment.
If there are no complications, you should be able to wear makeup several hours after your treatment.

Acne scars can form crater-like shapes on the surface of the skin or small, deep holes that look like punctures.
