How much does liposuction cost? Treatment pricing explained

One of the most common cosmetic procedures in the world, delivering swift and long-lasting results, liposuction can help you feel incredible. Costs vary depending on the area of your body, so is it the right treatment for you?

Find a clinic or practitioner near you and enjoy a risk-free booking process thanks to free in-clinic consultations and the option to pay in-clinic. Also, you can now split the cost of your treatment into four equal, interest-free instalments using Tabby.

How much is liposuction?

How much liposuction costs can vary depending on:

  • The treatment area.
  • The size of the area.
  • The exact type of procedure you plan on having.
  • Where you go for the procedure.

Prices range from 10,000 AED to 25,000 AED.

  • Common areas for the procedure include arms, thighs, back, abdomen, the buttocks, neck and under the chin. You can have it on more than one area at a time.
  • This treatment is not a weight loss solution. Generally, it works best for people who are close to their goal weight – and in areas where the skin is tight.
  • It’s mostly an aesthetic procedure but can help decrease the fat cells (triglycerides) in your blood, which are linked to a higher risk of heart disease.

Types of procedure

Various techniques can be used for liposuction, which may affect the overall cost.

  • Tumescent liposuction – The most popular type. A saline solution, local anaesthetic and epinephrine enter under the skin, with the fat suctioned out through small tubes called cannulas.
  • Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAS) – Ultrasound energises the cannula, using vibrations to make the fat cell breakdown even easier.
  • Power-assisted liposuction (PAS) – A mechanised cannula moves back and forth to similarly ease the process.
  • Laser assisted liposuction (LAS) – A small tube delivers heat under the skin to further bolster the procedure.

What is included in the procedure?

The procedure sees unwanted fat sucked out of certain parts of your body with a thin tube. It may take between one and four hours, depending on the focus area(s) and size.

The cost of liposuction typically covers:

Treatment preparation

Beforehand, a few standard tests usually check it’s safe for you to have the procedure. You will likely receive a general anaesthetic before the surgery begins.

Treatment process

Your surgeon will make small entries into the target areas and then use the cannula, moving it around to break up fat cells. An attached vacuum device then sucks these out. Finally, stitches and bandaging will be applied.

Aftercare

Once the liposuction procedure is over you will likely stay at the clinic overnight, simply as a precaution. You may be provided with:

  • Pain relief medication.
  • Antibiotics to prevent infection.
  • Bandages and a support corset to reduce bruising and swelling.

You should have a follow-up appointment to remove any stitches, assess that the entries made are healing properly and to discuss any concerns. Usually, the costs of aftercare will be included in the total price you are quoted.

How much does laser liposuction cost?

Sometimes known as laser lipolysis, this increasingly popular variant is like other forms of liposuction but uses lasers to break down the fat before it’s removed.

Costs of laser liposuction typically start at 10,000 AED for a small area (such as the neck or chin), but can go up to around 20,000 AED for a more extensive treatment.

Key facts:

  • Laser treatment can promote collagen production, which means many patients experience minimal swelling, bruising and pain after the procedure. Skin may be tighter and firmer too.
  • Recovery time can also be shorter due to the reduced bruising and swelling, and you may see results within one week of the treatment. For this reason, it is often more expensive than other types.
  • Normally, laser lipo takes around one hour, and you should only require one session.
  • As with other types, pricing depends on the specific area and size of area being treated. You’ll get a price tailored to your needs at a consultation.
