A beginner’s guide to laser hair removal
From how it works to when you’ll see results, here’s your ultimate primer on laser hair removal.
Stop plucking, waxing, or epilating the area for four to six weeks before your first session.
Avoid direct sun exposure. This will make your skin more sensitive.
Shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.
Remove (or don’t apply!) any type of creams or lotions.
- Your skin may feel sensitive, but don’t worry – this is completely normal and will usually only last for a few days.
- Wait a few hours (or, ideally, until the next day) to take a hot shower.
- Your skin will be more sensitive to heat, so avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks.
- Start exfoliating regularly after a few days to reduce the risk of ingrown hairs.
